Mission: Parents
We are committed to bringing discipleship back into the home by coming alongside and supporting parents as they embrace the call to be the primary disciple-makers of their children and endeavor to raise and release faithful stewards and loving servants of Jesus Christ.
Here’s how.
Equip.
The task of biblical parenting does not happen by accident. Rather, it requires the proper knowledge paired with the correct application. We strive to equip parents in both of these areas as they lead their homes.
-
Foundations is a four-session theological primer, providing parents with a biblical basis and lens through which to view the task of parenting. The course is comprised of four classes: (1) A Theology of Parenting, (2) A Theology of the Heart, (3) The Centrality of Scripture in Parenting, and (4) Gospel Precision in Parenting.
-
Frameworks provides parents with practical support as they pursue in-home discipleship. Each course will include four sessions to assist parents in planning and implementing new routines and systems in the home. Subjects to be explored within this course include, but are not limited to, the following: Implementing family worship, setting annual goals, building a schedule for the home, catechizing the next generation, etc.
ENCOURAGE.
Given the importance of parenting, parents must be surrounded by godly support and wisdom within the local church. Therefore, a significant element of Mission: Parents is the ongoing encouragement of our parents.
-
Pastoral guidance and support are vital to encouraging the parents at MBC. Striving to shepherd the flock in every avenue of life, the pastoral staff, and particularly the Family Pastor, is wholly devoted to locking arms with parents in the task of raising and releasing the next generation of faithful Christ-followers.
-
The “Mentor Families” team is a cohort of families that have embraced and exemplify the parenting paradigm promoted at MBC. These families are availed to the other families of the church to provide wisdom regarding in-home discipleship. Each mentor family has internalized and exhibited the heart of Mission’s parenting philosophy.
-
Bi-annually, Mission Bible Church will host a parenting conference geared toward providing help and encouragement to parents as they pursue spiritual reconciliation between their children and God. This will be a time of refreshment as the pastors of MBC and welcomed guest speakers tackle various aspects of parenting through teaching sessions and workshops. The parenting conference will alternate annually with the church-wide family retreat.
CONNECT.
Fellowship is an essential aspect of life within the body of Christ. Therefore, we seek to provide avenues for parents and families to come together as a form of edification and enjoyment of genuine Christian fellowship.
-
Mommy Play Dates serve as bi-monthly opportunities for mothers to gather with their young children for fun, often seasonally-themed activities, as well as the chance to cultivate meaningful, Christ-centered relationships. Additionally, based on shared biblical values, goals, and parenting philosophy, the play dates also provide a forum where moms can share challenges and biblical solutions about Christian parenting.
-
Whether they are new to the church or have been around for several years, Family Gather Events are a simple way for the families of Mission Bible Church to come together for fellowship and foster new relationships with other like-minded Christians. Events will be held three times per year.
-
Whether your kids are in the diaper stage or searching for colleges and jobs, bi-annual MBC family retreats are open to families of the church to take some time away from the norm for a memorable, intentional time of worship, learning, mutual encouragement, and fun. The family retreats will alternate annually with the parenting conference.
RESOURCE.
The right tools make all the difference, so providing parents with helpful resources is key. For this reason, we provide theological and practical resources crafted and selected with our parents and their children in mind.
-
Crafted with the families of MBC in mind, this resource provides theological and practical support for families as children move from birth to marriage. The guide will be updated and expanded consistently to provide increasingly comprehensive support for years to come.
*Available May 2022
-
The Family Bookstore will be the place for parents to get their hands on biblical and practical reading resources recommended by the Pastoral staff of MBC. Books and other resources will be available for purchase during Sunday morning and weekday operating hours.

Our Mission
Partner with Parents to Raise Disciples.
As part of our Family Ministries, Mission: Parents has been crafted with Christian parents in mind. We are called to be the primary shaping influence in our children’s lives, which begins in the home, so our aim is to equip, encourage, connect, and resource the families of MBC with all they need in order for their homes to thrive under the framework that God has specified in His Word. Implementing parenting courses, mentor programs, fellowship events, conferences, and more, Mission: Parents is devoted to assisting parents as they strive to faithfully steward their greatest treasure, their children, and bring them up “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4).
The best way to begin the journey is to jump in and get connected through Discipleship Groups and events. Be sure to check out the Discipleship Groups page to lock in with one our midweek groups that meet all throughout Orange County and the Inland Empire.
