Why “family ministries”?

The culture has decided that it is its responsibility to raise our children. We only have to look as far as:

  • Curricula in public schools and college institutions

  • Media’s assault upon the innocence of children and the morality of the youth

  • The overreach of institutions seeking to exercise their authority over our authority as parents regarding our children’s education, health, and beliefs.

Add to this the influence of worldly friendships, progressive and anti-God ideologies, and sinful temptations, and we find that we are facing a substantial problem. Simply put, we’re at war for the hearts, minds, and souls of our kids.

No longer can parents afford to abdicate their responsibilities, simply trusting that their kids will “figure it out?” Hence, the task of bringing up our children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4) is vitally important. We are called to be the primary shaping influence in our children’s lives, which begins within the home. We must reinforce the home.

The Initiative.

The Family Ministries at Mission Bible Church aim to bring discipleship back into the home by equipping, encouraging, and supporting parents as they raise and release faithful stewards and loving servants of Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

The Family Ministries include Mission: Parents, Mission: Kids (Kids ministry), Mission: Youth (Jr. High and High School ministry), Mission: Young Adults (College ministry), Mission: Academy (Homeschool co-op), and Mission: Refuge (Foster-Adopt ministry).

Our Mission

  • Glorify God by raising godly kids.

God's glory is the ultimate purpose of all things (Rom. 11:36). The church was established to bring Him glory and serves as the primary way in which He is exalted (Eph. 3:21). Thus, Scripture commands we join with the rest of creation in declaring His glory (Ps. 19:1) and that in whatever we do, we do all for His glory (1 Cor. 10:31).

  • Bring Discipleship back to the Home.

Parents are charged to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21). Thus, parents must be their children’s primary evangelists and trainers. This command is actively fulfilled as parents set a godly example, invest in their children's spiritual well-being, and are consistently involved in the training and maturation of their children.

  • Support and Resource Parents.

In pursuit of the spiritual vitality of the home, the Family Ministries aim to support parents in their weighty yet wonderful task of raising children who become faithful stewards and loving servants of the Lord. We strive to address this task through our various ministry contexts and by providing biblical and practical resources that will reinforce in-home discipleship efforts.

New Family Ministry Center.

Mission is more than doubling its Family Ministry space by constructing over 6,000 square feet of class space, play areas, and training grounds for the next generation.

Family Ministries

You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, & training them up in God’s fear, & minding the house, & making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts.
