Serving together
When we serve others, we serve Jesus.
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."
(Colossians 3:23-24)
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus demonstrated the heart of true service by humbling Himself to wash His disciples’ feet. He then left them with this command:
"If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them."
(John 13:14–17)
This is the foundation of serving at Mission Bible Church. We serve not because we have to, not for recognition or personal gain, but because we follow the example of Christ. Serving is an act of obedience, humility, and love. We serve because we get to.
